| New England Genetics offers on farm embryo transfer services to
clients throughout New England and some of the Maritime Provinces
of Canada. Services include donor management, recipient management,
on farm collection, freezing, and non-surgical transfer of embryos.
We also provide technical training to other ET practitioners worldwide,
and offer limited embryo sexing (at Juniper Farm). New England Genetics

is We’ve been at this a while. Richard Whitaker, “Whit” learned embryo transfer while at Em Tran between 1981 and 1986. Whit started New England Genetics in October 1987. Julie Martin agreed to help him out as a technician for a while and she’s been with New England Genetics since. Only now, Julie serves the key administrative roles for the company, from scheduling cows, shipping embryos domestically and internation¬ally, health documentation, to embryo sexing. Recently, Jonica Martin has joined us as an embryologist and database manager.
Richard Whitaker - Richard O. Whitaker, DVM, MBA. Whit grew up in Chapel Hill, NC and started working on dairy farms when he was 12 years old. He did his undergraduate studies at Washington and Lee University and The University of Virginia, graduated from the University of Georgia - College of Veterinary Medicine in 1979, and recently earned an MBA from the University of Southern Maine in 2004. Whit is presently on the Board of the American Embryo Transfer Association, Chair of AETA's Government Liason Committee and also serves on the AETA's Finance/Audit Committee. Julie Martin - Julie Grew up in Gray, Maine on Wilsondale Farms and was active in farm operations, 4-H and the Jr. Holstein Association. She Graduated from Cornell University in 1985 with a BS in Animal Science. Julie has been employed with Whit and New England Genetics since day one - 18 years as of the fall of 2005. She is married to N.A. Martin and the mother of 2 teenage daughters– Ashley and Aryn. Her family owns and operates Martin-Place Farm in Gorham, ME. Jonica Martin - Jonica Grew up in Lisbon Falls, Maine and graduated from Unity College in 2002 with a BS in Environmental Science with an emphasis in Wildlife Biology. She recently joined the staff as an embryologist and database manager. Jonica is loving life in Turner with 2 great friends and a dog named Griffin. Karen Murphy, DVM – Karen grew up in Massachusetts. As an undergraduate she worked on a dairy farm for 4 years while earning a BS degree in Animals Science at UMASS Amherst. In 1994 she graduated from the Purdue University of Veterinary Medicine. Karen has worked in Maine and Vermont since then as a dairy practitioner with a special interest in herd health and reproduction. In July 2007 Karen joined New England Genetics and became certified by the AETA in 2008. Karen is living in Turner, ME and enjoying embryo transfer work. Nate Cossaboom - Nate is a veteran
AI and ET technician. He has over 20 years of experience breeding
cows for GENEX, and has been successfully transferring embryos for
the past 10 years. Nate joined New England Genetics in September
2007 and enables NEG to offer transfer services 7 days a week. Nate
and his wife Jessica have three daughters. The decision to become involved with embryo transfer work is a big step!
